Colombia

Colombia is one of the riches countries in natural resources of South America. Among the main products exported, there are petroleum, chalk – with the greatest reserves in Latin America – coffee, sugarcane, gold, emerald – first world producer – chemical products, textiles, and leather.
The agricultural sector has a very diverse production and collects coffee, sugarcane, banana, corn, tobacco, cotton, legumes, fruits, and flowers, having an increase on their exports during the past few years.


However, its most significant export, although illegal, are drugs. The country is the number one producer of marijuana, the main processor of cocaine leaves from Peru, Ecuador, and Bolivia, and the number one exporter of cocaine to the US. The narcotic business is estimated to 6 billion dollar every year, which corresponds to 10% of their GDP.


With a population of approximately 45.6 million people, and a GDP “per capita” of US$ 2,682 the urban population have been experiencing a continuous growth, when compared to the previous years, due to migrations. The majority of the population is concentrated between the mountain range, at the Ande's valley, and at the Caribbean coast, since these places offer the greatest life and job perspectives for the inhabitants.

ACOPI's mission is to represent the micro and small companies affiliated, promote their strengthening, foment competitiveness through associative strategies that allow the consolidation of the internal market and the insertion of a greater amount of companies on the international market, and promote transformation on innovating companies that produce high quality goods and services, fair prices, environmentally/ecologically concerned, and social responsibility.
